Sex-Trafficking Special Event in Rome

“From Romania to Roma: Halt the Sex Trade Route through Dance!”

We live in an era when artistic expression can powerfully give perspective on an issue, lending a voice to those who have lost theirs, and touching a place deep inside of us beyond words.

Mikaela and Mackenzie are professional dancers of renown in the U.S.A. They dedicate their talent and passion to reclaiming freedom for those enslaved in the global sex trade through the powerful expression of dance.  

Through our work, we seek to direct attention upon truths such as human dignity and the inherent value of life- truths that, if embraced, would sabotage the global sex trade and other abhorrent systems alike. 

On behalf of our non-profit Christian coalition to prevent trafficking in Rome, Schiavitù Mai Più, we’ve invited this pair of specially gifted artists to creatively demonstrate the possibility of redemption, while shining a light on the reality of sex trafficking.  

Their tour begins in collaboration with Christian workers in Bucharest who are directly involved in preventing sex slavery and restoring victims to a life of healing and wholeness.  As a part of a city-wide event to raise awareness of Sex Trafficking, Mackenzie and Mikaela will share dance with those impacted by this wicked business. They will perform for the public and for young people at risk of being trafficked, and teach therapeutic dance workshops.

From there they will travel to Rome: an intentional itinerary that follows the path of countless Romanian girls and women to the rape-for-profit racket on the streets of Rome and in scores of clandestine brothels in our city. We know this, because we know them, since every other week we’re out there meeting these lovely, terrified, half-naked young women trapped by unseen chains, under the thumb of their exploiters.                                          

They need a voice. Dance can be a visual and experiential megaphone to speak to all of us. “From Romania to Roma: Halt the Sex Trade Route through Dance!”
