“The Church is central to the saving purposes of God, and church-planting is central to the mission of God.
… Church-planting is about the long haul of seeing authentic, alternative communities created that model the reign of Christ as they live the life of the Gospel and speak the word of the Gospel.”
~ Tim Chester & Steve Timmis, Everyday Church
We are grateful and glad to serve with a mission agency
that’s committed to catalyzing healthy, transformational churches among all
peoples. There is no other project and no other cause to which we would rather
be dedicated - than fostering Gospel communities where disciples are made and
saints are equipped for service in the world.
(Acts 4:12).
The many fruitful conversations of planning, praying and exploring
together towards this goal, asking “How?” as well as “Why?” we pursue this
vision, have reinforced our calling to help people flourish spiritually and to
shine the light of the Gospel in Rome, Italy. Yet we are keenly aware of the
challenges and obstacles before us.
What does it look like to serve and build the church? Chester
& Timmis encapsulate the heart of ReachGlobal’s vision for fulfilling the
Great Commission along with the Great Commandment. One of our Guiding
Principles states:
WE ARE HOLISTIC & INTEGRATED IN OUR APPROACH - Historically missions has emphasized the biblical mandate of ministering to the whole person in the name of Christ. This includes ministries of compassion and development in addition to those of evangelism and church planting. A distinctive of ReachGlobal is that all ministries are integrated into the goal of multiplying transformational churches.
In Rome we walk out this approach in a variety of
ways, and it involves building relationships in which we encourage, equip,
empower, explore and affirm people as they seek to serve in Gospel work. We serve, strategize, collaborate and forge partnerships. This
naturally includes sharing lots of meals and coffee as well as prayer and
Scripture.
We are privileged to come alongside individuals and small groups of people in their walk with God, whether they are searching for the way to Truth, Peace, and Freedom, or whether they already follow Christ. Whether on the street in the dark place of prostitution, or in a circle with Bibles and notepads doing leader training.

Surrounded by God-given opportunities to pour into people, who are
precious to the Lord, and connect them to the Body of Christ.
Every day. All the time.

I am on the last chapter of that book. It has shaped me in some areas and affirmed some of my own thoughts. Thanks for recommending it so long ago! And thanks for your good work in Rome!
