Our bags are packed, our gadgets are charged, the grass is cut, and our bills are paid—it’s time to say “arrivederci” to Illinois and “buon giorno” to Rome… at least for a week or so.
Since we joined ReachGlobal, so much has happened. Despite two different doctors telling us that it could never occur, Naomi is nearly 15 weeks pregnant. Needless to say, we have a whole new list of questions as we prepare for two years serving overseas.
As we visit Europe from 8/25 to 9/5, we ask you to consider supporting us in the following ways:
Pray: We fly to Rome, Italy on 8/25 to meet with ReachGlobal leaders, see their day-to-day operation, learn the needs of the community, and discover where we will be able to serve full time. Please pray for clarity, discernment, safety, wisdom, and energy as we take our first steps of faith on this journey.
Give: All full-time ReachGlobal missionaries must have 100% of their budgets pledged before leaving for the mission field. Our goal is to leave in August of 2010. Please consider supporting us in this way with a special gift or monthly donation via www.efca.org/give-now (Code: Baliva 1695).
Over the last several months, we have felt more strongly called to Rome as opposed to our other options. With a metro area containing more than 4 million people, Rome is a strategic capital city of influence in the world. As an historic, cultural, financial, and diplomatic capital, a healthy evangelical church in Rome has great potential to reach out in Italy and send workers into the rest of the world. ReachGlobal plans to launch inner-city, immigrant, university, house church, and other outreaches in Rome.
Thank you for your continued friendship and support—we look forward gaining vision, focus, and excitement on this trip and can’t wait to share it with you when we return.
